===== A Brief History of Acronyms =====

FAME stands for [[Flashout]], [[ASDT]], [[MTASC]], [[Eclipse]]. The term was coined by Jesse Warden in [[http://www.jessewarden.com/archives/2005/04/tried_eclipse_a.html|his blog post on April 23, 2005]] after he worked through Carlos Rovira's landmark [[http://www.actionscript.com/index.php/fw/1/towards-open-source-flash-development/|Towards Open Source Flash Development]] article.

FAME is a step towards enabling fully open-source Flash development on the Eclipse platform. Other tools exist and are being developed that add on to the core FAME toolset to expand this vision further. This includes [[Swfmill]] (the addition of which allows the creation of skeleton SWFs with libraries and makes the acronym [[FAMES]])
