Haxe sounds promising.

I recently bought Essential Guide to Open Source Flash Development book, and
there's an Haxe guide written by you in this book.
As I read, does not seem to be very different (in the syntax refers) to the
AS's syntax.

Maybe I should try with Haxe ...
