No need for AS3 to do remoting.
Check out the testsuite/misc-ming.all/remoting.as test file
of Gnash (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash).
It's AS1 and does remoting just fine.

Beside, if you go AS3 there's no free/libre flash player able
to play it. So please stay AS1/2 :)
