[Papervision3D] PV3D as the basis for an FPS; Was: [Papervision3D Digest, Vol 4, Issue 12].

I'd actually like to try a Mario Kart clone ... something along the
lines of a racing game. This isn't only because it's something I'm
planning on doing, but because racing games are very addictive.

As far as a first person shooter is concerned, the major difficulty
is that in the speed of return for your actions. In Quake, one could
easily (and extremely quick) spin 360, face down and rocket jump.
Then in mid air switch weapons to a rail gun (q3 here) and pop
someone out of mid air. To go down the FPS route requires a major
attention to how fast the response time is for the user when they
attempt to do something.

I think it's entirely possible though, and it's a great idea. I think
Flash is ready for this.

Another thought is game play like Myth I/II/III. The 3rd person game
play is also very attractive, and maybe more so for the Flash
platform due to the fact that these RPGs suck you in with the story,
more than the game play itself in some cases.

cheers,

jon
