[Papervision3D] 3D Globe with Papervision

I was looking at http://www.flashearth.com/ yesterday, and wondering
what it would take to map it onto a 3D sphere, similar to the demo
world in helloAse.
I think a key feature thats missing from P3D at the moment that would
be needed is some form of tessellation so as the globe got closer to
the viewer it was split into more polygons for your textures to fit
onto.
If you search the list archive for 'tessellation' you will find a lot
of in depth discussion about how P3D might approach this.
