[Papervision3D] Creating a 3D Panorama from Spherical Donut Shaped image

I have an image that was captured with a camera fitted with a lens
specifically meant to create Panoramic videos.

I have a pretty long video that I want to map to the inside of a sphere and
create a panorama out of it. (similar to the Japanese Google Street-view app
that someone sent a while back)

Most of the tutorials i've seen require some sort of software meant to
"flatten" the panorama.

What I want to be able to do is feed the unmodified video to flash and have
this mapped onto a sphere correctly (or at least close).

I have Maya 8, 3D Studio Max 9, and Blender at my disposal. If someone could
point me in the right direction at least, i'd really appreciate it.

The image i need to map is here: http://djsparks.iweb.bsu.edu/letterman2.jpg
