Why oh why has Director been abandoned by Adobe....

The time it has sat stagnant it has been largely written off (still pwns 3d gaming online).  I wish they would update the IDE, allow some external IDEs to emerge and wire in actionscript3.  Lingo is ok, the JavaScript implementation wasn't really complete (not to mention very little sources in javascript).  I hope it resurges but does not seem like it is a focus at Adobe at all.  The new logo says 'Di'  I think they are saying something there...
