[Papervision3D] cloning DAE's or other loaded models

Hey all,
Is there a way to clone DAE's so I can use the same functionality as the
original object? trying to typecast a cloned DisplayObject3D that was
derived from a DAE to a DAE (e.g. (clonedDAE as DAE)) gives a null
exception.
I'm building a little game that involves a few animated DAE's, and would
like to avoid the load and repeated parsing if I created each new DAE object
individually. Is cloning the only option, or is there something else I'm not
aware of?
