[Papervision3D] Flex project optimisation

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a project using PV3D and Flex for a few weeks now.
Check it out: *http://tinyurl.com/dmlk2p* . The problem right now is that my
models are highly complex ranging from 2-3mb each. I'm wondering if there
are ways to optimise Flex PV3D projects (aside from dumbing down the Collada
model I'm using).

If you're wondering what the application does, we're creating a 3D
visualisation tool based on: http://bar.utoronto.ca/efp/cgi-bin/efpWeb.cgi ,
specifically for the arabidopsis thaliana (first plant to be genomed). The
application takes an a gene value and paints the plant using mathematical
expressions. Click into the AGI field and click enter. Clicking on Cellular
Level will load a MUCH more complicated model.

I'm hoping to have the app finished very soon, but I want to work out the
Flex optimisation if I can earlier. I'm wondering if I should use Away3D
instead, it has Collada support as well and I'm hoping it might be faster.
Should search for some benchmarks first before I port it over.

Thanks!

Dave
