[Papervision3D] Can anyone help back-port an away 3D fix for dirty material edges?

Following a suggestion from "Makc the Great" I've started looking into the
Away 3D source code to see if I can find a solution to the dirty material
edges problem I've been struggling with.

However, after looking through some of the latest Away3D source code, I
can't find the cool hack in question (maybe I've seen it but not recognised
it as that) - can anyone shed any light on it to help me?

>From Makc:
turning smoothing off should help. away3d has cool hack against this
that does it automatically even with smoothing on, you might want to
back-port that.
